Professional Dance Performance HNC @ SCQF Level 7 

The Smash HNC Professional Dance Performance course offers a strong foundation in commercial dance training with master classes, performance opportunities, an introduction to mindfulness and audition technique along with an experience of a lifetime, training and performing in the commercial dance capital of the world Los Angeles. In  partnership with Dumfries and Galloway College dancers will study at the Theatre Royal in Dumfries and at Smash Studios in Lockerbie, a 5 minute walk from the train station with frequent trains to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Carlisle, Manchester, Preston and London.. A pioneering first for dancers in the Southwest of Scotland. This is an ideal course for those wanting to work in the creative arts industry on stage and on screen led by the internationally acclaimed Smash Global Faculty.

Student financing is available through Dumfries and Galloway College, making world-class professional dance training accessible without unnecessary barriers.

Audition and Interview Requirements

Video Content Introduction:

    1. Why do you want to train with Smash?

    2. What are your goals for the future?

    3. Introduce your two dances for us to see

Practical Dance Videos:

  • Present two styles of dance 1-2 mins in length.


    1.     Commercial Style (required)
    2.     Style of your choice, showcasing what you love and what you can do.

Video submission requirements:

  1. Dancers are requested to wear all black.

  2. Videos should be shot in landscape.

  3. Because of the size of files, we recommend you upload to a platform such as Vimeo and add the link to your application form.
